It’s no secret that there’s a lot of money in movies. But at the top of the film pile, above most of the critics' picks, the summer smash hits and audience favourites, sit a select few that occupy a rarefied space indeed; these commercial behemoths are so popular and so financially successful, that they belong to the most exclusive club in cinema. These 37 films make up The Billion Dollar Film Club.

The visualization maps the all the films that have taken a worldwide gross of over $1 billion at the box office. From the outside in, it shows global box office takings for each film, the number of days it took to reach the milestone, and the public and critics' ratings. The links in the centre denote films that are part of the same franchise, and at the bottom are some further insights taken from the dat
